I used to be so angry, all the time. I felt like I had to be a perfect mom, wife, and executive, and I was failing miserably at all three. It was only once I learned how to identify patterns from my own childhood, shift my focus with the kids from behavior control to connection, and create more time for myself, that things really got better.
I’m here to help you navigate the intense pressures of work and family life, and do it in a way that creates more love and joy with your family. Let’s go!
The Way Through is a coaching practice that supports busy, career-driven parents and their families to thrive.
Informed by the best that humanity has to offer — from ancient philosophies to modern neuroscience — I’m providing the support I wish I'd had when I was struggling as a career-driven mom with young kids.
In Japanese, we say “God is housed in the details.” I believe the practical details really matter, especially when it comes to personal and professional growth.
You will never get anything other than the real, work-in-progress Emmy in our coaching sessions. I will never pretend to you that I have it all figured out, because I don’t.
Sometimes we can take ourselves too seriously, me included.
Time is precious. Let’s talk about the stuff that really matters to you.
Being human is hard. Suffering is part of life. Let’s be kind to ourselves.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” — Carl Jung
As a parent, I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed, angry, defeated and without answers.
I tried the lone wolf path for many years. I read parenting books, I did some therapy, I tried meditation and mindfulness practices. But I was still angry, resentful, and yelling. Oh, I was such a yeller!
I would tell myself I was a terrible mom, that I shouldn’t have had kids, that I should’ve just stuck to being good at my job and never opened myself up to the kind of pain I was facing at home.
Working through my recovery from burnout gave me space and clarity. I realized just how much working parents have to juggle. It lit a fire in me, I dove into solutions and what I found gave me a huge amount of hope.
As a former social change campaigner, it’s ingrained in me to see both the crisis and the opportunity in terrible situations, and then ask you to do something about it.
Now it's YOUR turn to find your way through.
I'll be with you every step of the way.
I've learned to manage my emotions more effectively and embrace a more playful approach with my children. Emmy has been instrumental in helping me work collaboratively with my partner, turning us into a true parenting team.
Emmy brought a rare wisdom and empathy that comes from someone who sees people for who they are, combined with an ability to deeply but quickly understand. And I got SO much from her coaching. It is hard to reconcile the ground we covered in the interactions we had. The mindset shifting, really clever and incredibly effective practical steps, and very welcomed podcast recommendations for in-between session inspo was a perfect mix. I wholeheartedly recommend Emmy.
Through exercises and prompt that she shared, I began creating concrete steps that have helped me explore my dreams and visions in my life. There was also a lot of empowerment and a strong mind shift in how I deal with my day-to-day life experiences such as setting boundaries, effective communication, people pleasing and also creating a space for me to just exist without carrying the burden of the world with me.
